I discovered this place through the help of my Urbanspoon (now Zomato) filtering for good brunch places nearby.

It's a little cafe situated on the outskirts of the city, right on the brink of the west gate bridge. The surburb seems to make you feel like you're out of town or remotely far from the city but in fact, it's only 10 to 15 minutes away from the cbd. It's a really nice place to just relax, wind down and to catch up with friends. I came here with a few of my highschool friends to catch up and we had a blast.

I had the potato croquettes with sauteed mushrooms and poached eggs. The plate of food looked relatively small but looks are deceiving as the potato croquette was quite filling. The fish and chips pictured above was one of the store's menu and it was good, but nothing we haven't tasted before.
All in all, this place is a really good place to go to for catch ups and coffee runs if you live closeby, but it's not too special to draw people from all further surburbs here.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17843825318828083498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4856406157336773448.post-17779872869911150302014-04-20T04:26:00.000-07:002014-04-20T04:26:31.004-07:00Sushi Hotaru

I came here for a catch up with a couple of mates, and this place had such a good vibe. It's really hidden and if it weren't for its popularity on urbanspoon, I would have never thought to go here!

It was my first sushi train experience and homgahh, it was so fun! It was so exciting seeing the trail of sushi plates moving and my eyes were glancing at each plate while I picked the ones I really wanted to try. I also saw the staff there smoking down the salmons!

The sushis tasted okay, as in goood for it's worth. Each plate ranges from $3 and the "better" salmon or fish plated on a black one instead of blue or yellow are $7 each? (i think) There was also an ipad there where we could choose other things on the menu and they made it there for us on the spot! :)

It's a great place if you want to try different types of sushi with one or two friends as they come in plates of 2 to 3, fantastic place to chill and catch up. I would be coming back to this place :)

LOL Good side is you get to eat heaps of varieties of sushis, but downside is, you have to eat soo many plates to be full :P
This place is actually really close to home and it's just one of those hidden gems in a rather quiet yet vibrant suburb, Seddon.

I've had the chance to try this place out a few times, and no regrets so far! It has a quirky atmosphere but the thing I love about this place is their service. It is absolutely impeccable, every time I go there.

I love going to brunch with a few friends as I also get to try out some of their foodles too hehe, we ordered eggs Florentine, the hot cakes with smoked salmon, the BLT in Turkish pides and with a side of fries and also the spicy and sweet potato latkes.

The eggs florentine was like any other eggs florentine but it was nice for what it was worth.
The hot cakes with smoked salmon was so delicious, the flavours of the sauce mixed in well with the hotcakes and the salmon and it was just right.
The BLT sandwich was a really big serving but it was still very good, but tbh I rather eat a BLT burger than in a Turkish pides - I like Turkish pides with lighter servings like say poached chicken with avocado haha
I had the spicy sweet potato latkes. It was honestly soo soo goood!! I loved it, I had troubles finishing it but essentially they were like sweet potato fritters. I think it went well with the poached eggs and I loved how they chucked in a pieces of greens on the side to balance the dish out!

I highly recommend this place as it is great for catch ups and if you enjoy good customer service! I'll be back as soon as I'm out of this vicious studying cycle 8-)

This is my first real amateur food blog - so why not begin with the sweets?

I recently went to pay a visit my bald lover, lol jks, just Adriano Zumbo's patisserie in South Yarra. I also passed the zumbo store in Sydney when I was there a month ago but they were selling pretty much the same desserts so I skipped the try in Sydney as it was already 11pm when we arrived at the Star. (now I regret it, cos they had a dessert train going on!!)

I tried the passionfruit tart and the green dome.
The passionfruit tart (tarte aux fruits de la passion) was soooo sooo goood! The texture was so smooth and flavoursome. It wasn't too sweet and it went well with the biscuit base.
The green dome (Non che nudo ka) on the other hand was a bit of a let down for me, the wow factor was in its appearance and not the taste. It reminded me of a chocolate lemon meringue tart and although it had many textures and elements going on, it didn't really appeal to me and I didn't enjoy it as much as the other one. (and becuase I was already quite full from the passionfruit tart)
I also tried the macarons and honestly, they were the bomb! They do have some weird flavours like Apple pie and wasabi. I think they're worth trying cos whats the point on getting salted caramel when you can have that anywhere else, true? :)

On my forth visit, I finally tried their zonut and their red velvet and black currant flavoured macarons. The zonut was a roasted peach flavour with a green tea infused cream inside. It was legitimately one of the best donuts I've ever had a chance to try in my whole life, and I wouldn't mind going back for more. They always have different flavours every few weeks and I'm sure I will be back for more in no time. :)
I don't call myself a foodie, but I do love my food. I'm just a uni student exploring different cuisines with the limited funds in my savings account. I love catching up with friends, and I found one thing in common amongst all catch ups - we only always eat food when I see them.
One of my friends encouraged me to create a food blog a long time ago, but I never got around to it, more so because I thought I'd be judged, but #YOLO right? - so here we have it - my very own amateur food blog :') !
Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I love posting about the foodles I've eaten. :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17843825318828083498noreply@blogger.com0
